To be completely honest - never in my design career did I think about the human experience and how people interact and rely on design. I used to think that 'design' was logos, graphics, posters, just printed and digital things, but after taking Human Centered Design, I realized that it was so much more involved and truly "human-centered".
This course permanently changed my view and experience with design, as a designer and as a viewer. Now, in my everyday life, I am looking around and observing how design plays a role in my everyday life and how much I rely on it. I am constantly saying to myself "someone designed that" and am continuously surprised by the amount of effort put into things. Behind every thing is a designer, and a design process. This realization truly opened up my mind to become more appreciative of the design experience and recognize the amount of work that goes into it.
I do wish that this course was a part of the foundations and beginners courses of Graphic Design because I think it really helped me see Graphic Design in the real world and it made it mean a lot more to me. I think this course would have helped me early on to see beyond just my education and apply it to my career and real life.
